What's Up Wednesday (2/28/18)

February has been a month of ups and downs for our family.  Even though we celebrated our little girl turning TWO, there have been more downs than ups.  But, we get through them together, even the toughest things.

This month I want to dedicate my post to our grandmother, who passed onto her next life on February 2nd and the amazing souls of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that lost their lives and the entire school family that was affected on February 14th.   Today they return to school, a place that will never be the same for them, and I pray for them.  My husband went to High School there, his cousins' children go to school there, and his family still lives in Coral Springs.  Something has go to change, and I know that the children and families impacted by this horrible tragedy will be the ones to make the law makers in this country push forth change!!  I found this great news article that outlines how you can directly contribute to the families and students of Douglas #MSDSTRONG

On the last Wednesday of the month I link-up with Shay to answer these questions:

1.  What we're eating this week...
We celebrated my Dad's birthday, he turned 70 on Monday! My mom makes the most amazing chocolate mousse pie.  So that's what we ate for dessert.

We bought a new refrigerator this month, and just fully stocked it for the first time.  Back to eating healthy, home-cooked meals for us after a crazy month.

2.  What I'm reminiscing about...
The wonderful life of our grandmother, Agnes Monica.  Almost 103-years-old, she is leaving an amazing legacy behind her, and loved her grandkids and great grandchildren so much.  I will always cherish the time that we had with her, and know that she is now at peace and watching down on us from the heaven's above.  She will be so very missed!

3.  What I'm loving...
This week is Dr. Seuss week at the kid's school, and it's so fun to get them excited about it!  Yesterday was Red/Blue day to celebrate "Red Fish, Blue Fish" and today is Wacky Wednesday.  Tomorrow is Silly Sock Day, and Friday is favorite college day (sorry Daddy, they will be sporting their Noles gear this week!) for "Oh the Places You'll Go" #loveit

4.  What we've been up to...
On the 9th, Arianna turned TWO.  In case you missed my post dedicated to her, you can see that here.  We celebrated multiple times, due to our unplanned trip down to see Mike's family.  I'm pretty sure she thinks we're going to sing her Happy Birthday again next week.

Not happy about the candle on her cake

Waking up at G's house to be 2!

We had originally planned to take Arianna to Disney for her birthday.  After some consideration, we decided to continue our plans to celebrate her birthday, even though we had to say goodbye to Grandma on the same day.  It was hard, but also a nice way to celebrate with our girl.

Mommy's girl!

She's now obsessed with Belle

...and Rapunzel

I think she enjoyed her birthday

We booked a character breakfast near our hotel, at Trattoria al Forno, and it was so good! The service was great, the food was amazing, and the kids loved meeting Ariel, Prince Eric, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.  I would highly recommend this experience.

After breakfast we headed to Hollywood Studios to meet up with our friends and spend another day at the park.

We closed out the birthday celebrations with a small family gathering at our house and an "Anna" cake :)

5.  What I'm dreading...
Allergy season!  It's already here in full force, but I feel like it will get worse before it gets better.

6.  What I'm working on...
Potty training!  Now that she's two, that's an exciting thing in our house.  Hoping to be out of diapers very soon.  She is totally into it, and doing great!

7.  What I'm excited about...
Last weekend I reached one of my biggest goals I've set for 2018, the Gasparilla Ultra Lime Challenge.  14.2 miles over two days.  The training was hard, the runs were hard, it was hot, but I am so proud of myself for setting this goal and achieving it.  #done

What you do after you've finished running 9.2 miles!!

8.  What I'm watching/reading...
"This is Us" - enough said #hooked

Next Monday we find out who Arie chooses, on "The Bachelor" I almost wonder if he will even pick any of the girls.  This season was so boring to me, I'm already looking forward to the next season of "The Bachelorette"

I was total underwhelmed by this season of "Big Brother Celebrity" I'm normally a huge fan, but I think I only watched the first and last episode of this series.

STILL reading "Delicious" with my girls.  This book is growing on me, but it's definitely been a slow read.

I'm almost done with "You Are a Badass" and I am loving it!!  I have highlighted so many great quotes from this book, I know all of my friends would love it.

9.  What I'm listening to...
I downloaded Fit Radio App this month, and I have been enjoying the various mixes on the app. Great for running or just as background music for a workout.

10.  What I'm wearing...
This month I wore a lot of running clothes prepping for the race.  Florida is already starting to feel like summer with temperatures in the 80s, soon enough I'll be wearing my bathing suit again.

11.  What I'm doing this weekend...
There's nothing more excited than going through your kids clothes to take out the ones that they've grown out of too fast.  Those are my big plans for this weekend folks! I travel for work again next week, and after a long month, I'm looking forward to some downtime.

12.  What I'm looking forward to next month...
In March we celebrate my Mom's birthday, St. Patricks Day and we're taking the kids on a trip for Spring Break.  It should hopefully be a nice month for us.

13.  What else is new...
We celebrated Super Bowl at our neighbors amazing party...

We checked out a new local spot to eat and hang out.  If you haven't been to Armature Works, I highly recommend checking it out.  The kids had a blast too!

Mike and I had a nice date night for his broker's annual excellence event.  I don't tell him enough, but I am so proud of his real estate business and everything that he's accomplished over the last three years.

I totally jinxed myself when sharing our first trip to the ER last month I said, "If you would have asked me, I would have sworn to you that Arianna would be the cause of our first trip to the ER, but it was Vincent."

Well, a little more than a month later, Arianna earned her first trip to the ER, and the first set of stitches for my babies!  She fell at daycare, and ended up needing three stitches in her top lip.  She was so brave and strong.  I am convinced these things are 10x harder on Mommy than they are on the kids.

Two trips to the ER in two months is TOO much! Praying for safety over my kids and no more trips to the hospital anytime soon.

14.  Bonus Question - What is your families favorite Spring Break destination...
Well, my kids are just now getting old enough to participate in Spring Break, and this year we're heading to Orlando for a few days to relax by the pool, and hit up the parks.  Looking forward to getting ideas from the link-up for future trips.

Some of my favorite Spring Break memories growing up were going skiiing with my family, and from my college days, Key West and the Bahamas!

XO
